CERN Accelerating science

background

Study Coordination Group

Study Coordination Group

Function

As the executive body of the Feasibility Study, the Coordination Group is in charge of the implementation of the work packages. It is chaired by the Study Leader and includes the work package coordinators, who are proposed by the Study Leader from among the international community of experts and are appointed by the Steering Committee. The Study Leader is appointed by, and acts under the authority of, the CERN Director-General.

Organisation

The Feasibility Study activities are grouped into work packages that will enable the high-level goals set out Section II to be addressed in an optimal manner. The work packages cover accelerators, technical infrastructure, civil engineering (tunnel and surface), administrative processes in the Host States, physics and experiments, financing and operation model, as well as communications and outreach. The work packages are thematically focused and topically complementary, so that the organisational structure allows the formulation of clear targets and correspondingly efficient advancement in each individual domain, whilst ensuring appropriate coordination and oversight.

Processes

The work package structure will be adapted to the progress and evolving needs of the Feasibility Study.
